Istanbul, Turkey – 8/8/2010
So its August 8th and its a Beautiful day.
I had 2 things planned to do today:
1) Visit the Suleymaniye Cami. I end up scrambling the steep hill below it. Which mind you is filled with what seems to be every person in Istanbul trying to sell anything and everything – Light Bulbs, Odd Shoes, Nails, Hammers, Belts…anything you’ll find it here. Now from what a few guidebooks say the Suleymaniye Cami is meant to be one of the best in Turkey. Pity I cannot really confirm this as it was under renovation. Instead I get to see the tombs of Suleymaniye and another Ottoman Emperor. Though from the outside the Mosque does look quite impressive.
2) I did plan to go to the Basillica Cistern. I just never got around to it.I just spent the afternoon/evening playing backgammon, drinking the red wine/coke concoction and smoking the Nargile.
